    A very successful Flashlight Reading Night was held Monday night in the school’s multipurpose room. With their blankets, flashlights and books in hand, 80 children and adults attended the event. Retired elementary teacher Bev Scherr organized the event, assisted by the Odessa High School chapter of the The National Honor Society, which had adopted the event as a community service project for the year.     The Disability Lifeline Program, which provides cash assistance to about 34,000 adults who cannot work and do not have dependent children, will end Monday, October 31. Three new assistance programs will go into effect Tuesday, November 1. Elimination of the program was mandated by Engrossed Substitute House Bill 2082.
