Twenty five animal heads and furs have been on display in the Harrington Public Library since June of 1973. The late Louis Schultz was a Harrington farmer who enjoyed game hunting when he was not busy with keeping his farming operations going. Schultz began game hunting in 1946 and made two trips to Africa, trips into British Columbia, the Yukon and Alaska. Members of the Friends of the Pool (FOP), a group of young parents who conduct fundraising efforts on behalf of the Odessa Aquatic Recreation Center, met with town officials at the publicl library recently to discuss needs at the pool prior to the coming swim season. The concrete needs to be resurfaced and leveled before decking can be added. Art book for library Local artist Les LePere has produced a book of a portion of his art work. A copy was purchased by his classmate Jasper Womach (Class of 1964) and donated to the Harrington Public Library. The book “Magic of the Objects” is a collection of 68 artistic drawings. Some of his titles are as unique and unexpected as the artwork itself. Bea Lyon died Saturday, January 4, 2014, in Spokane. She was born in Spokane January 16, 1948, to Edward and Elsie (Heimbigner) Zeiler. Marie E. (Ramm) Braun died December 26, 2013, at Lincoln Hospital in Davenport at the age of 89. She was born January 12, 1924, in Odessa to Gottlob and Mary Ramm. Jim was the oldest of five brothers and outlived all of them. He farmed most of his life on the family farm north of Marlin.
