Jean B. Parr (92) of Harrington, passed away Tuesday morning, September 1, 2015 in Davenport. Born in Reardan to Homer and Clara Kennedy on February 22, 1923, Jean moved to Odessa at a young age and graduated from Odessa High School. On November 6, 1941 in Odessa, Jean Kennedy's life took a lifelong turn when she married Robert Parr of Harrington. DeWane Buddrius was born June 9, 1941, to Clarence and LuVerna (Weishaar) Buddrius in Odessa. After a brief battle with brain cancer, DeWane passed away on July 24, 2015, and went to his Heavenly Home. DeWane was a 1959 Harrington High School graduate. The Armstrong surname is familiar in the Harrington area. There were probably three W.B. Armstrongs in their family charts, but there was only one "Sleepy," whose given name was Edgar Alan Armstrong. Summer Reading In spite of summer vacations, Bridget Rohner has managed to keep the statistics high with the attendance this fourth week at 15 children. The group began with the reading of a story, for which the children were very attentive. The major theme this week was the five senses and the children thoroughly enjoyed the hands-on approach. The wheat harvest in the Odessa area is about 90 percent complete, and as most people suspected when harvest began, the outcome has been rather dismal. Overall dryland yields were down by about 40 to 50 percent overall, according to Mark Cronrath at the Odessa Trading Company, even lower than the initial reports at the beginning of harvest.
