When Odessa travelers cross over Mohler Road E. toward Sprague, they cross over an area formerly referred to as the “Four Corners,” “Unbewust corner” or “the old Liberty school.” Approaching Harrington-Tokio Road from the west, there is an old homestead to the north, encircled by trees and outbuildings. At the joint meeting of the Odessa and Harrington school boards June 10 to discuss issues involving the athletic cooperative between the two schools, it was quickly apparent that better and more consistent communication was needed between the boards and the administrators of the two school districts. Alex C. Wagenblast, formerly of Odessa, has graduated from Angelo State University in San Angelo, Texas with a degree from the Department of Physics and Geosciences. Jon Heimbigner, a 1966 graduate of Odessa High School, has a long history of participation in and promotion of sports of all kinds in Spokane. Gerald (Gerry) Ray, whose letters to the editor often appear in this newspaper, is a former Odessa school teacher and a 1953 graduate of Ritzville High School. City Council The Harrington City Council met May 13. Of the three candidates who applied to fill the summer position for the city crew, only one was interviewed. The hiring of Justin Carnahan was approved. Abatement notices were sent to citizens with overgrown yards.
