On Tuesday, March 19, the baseball season opened for the Odessa-Harrington Titans with a double-header at home against the Davenport Gorillas. The Titans took the first game, 8 - 0. Odessa’s newest postmaster is Becky Moeller, who transferred here from Harrington after 18 years as postmaster there. Former postmaster Mary Dewey is now the postmaster in Soap Lake, which is also the home of her father, so she can be closer to him should he need assistance. Becky Moeller was born in Baker, Ore. but raised mostly in North Idaho. Her father was a miner, and the family moved as jobs became available. Fifty-three years ago, excavation work at the Titan missile launching site at Batum, 16 miles southwest of Odessa, was underway, and members of the Odessa Chamber of Commerce and other area residents were given a tour of the facility. The Odessa/Harrington Titans golf team traveled to Colfax Tuesday, March 12, for a nine-hole match against Colfax and Northwest Christian, reported golf coach Sam Read of Odessa. Odessa, Wash.-- A U.S. Navy EA-6B Prowler jet out of Whidby Island Naval Air Station has crashed into a farmer's field between Odessa and Harrington about a half a mile north of Coffee Pot Road and about a mile from where Coffee Pot intersects with Duck Lake Lamona Road. The February 27 school board meeting began with high-school English teacher Dr. Duane Pitts and science teacher Seth Hodges providing a summary of their experiences as participants in TPEP (Teacher/Principal Evaluation Project). This past week a thief was involved in burglarizing businesses in the Sprague, Harrington and Edwall communities. As a result deputies focused patrols in those areas in an attempt to locate the suspect vehicle, believed to be a black Honda CRX.
