INCIDENT LOG

Editor's note: Most items in this section reflect the starting point for response by local police and emergency agencies. The Lincoln County Sheriff's Office does not release names of individuals who report possible criminal or suspicious activities to dispatchers or alleged victims for this column.

Monday, Feb. 11: Emergency personnel assisted an 18-year-old girl who apparently suffered an alcohol-related seizure in the Reardan area.

County road signs were reported stolen from Riffe, Bergeron and Landt roads. The signs from Landt Road later were found in a nearby canyon.

An Olson Road resident told dispatchers about occupants in a white van claiming to be photographers searching for an owl they said had been seen in the area.

A deputy and local ambulance personnel assisted a man who apparently fell outside the Bank of America in Odessa.

The front door of a residence in the 1000 block of Seventh Street in Davenport was found hanging partially off its hinges; a deputy later determined that no break-in had occurred.

Wilbur Police checked out an open door at Tom's Boat Shop on Main Street.

Odessa Police investigated a man's claim that someone had taken out a credit card in his name.

Reardan Police responded after an assault involving two boys at school. One reportedly had to be hospitalized in Spokane after being body-slammed to the ground.

Odessa Police helped in the return of an iPod that had been reported stolen from the 500 block of East First.

Tuesday, Feb. 12: Residents of Nye Road reported vandalism to two mailboxes.

A woman reported her vehicle had been backed into while parked outside the Davenport Post Office. Damage was reported to a bumper.

Deputies investigated two reports of narcotics-related activity in Davenport.

A Davenport man reported the theft of a handgun from a residence on Sand Flats Road East. It was later recovered in Spokane.

Wednesday, Feb. 13: Creston ambulance personnel assisted an 86-year-old woman with severe hip pain.

A Creston woman reported an electrical burn odor at a residence in the 100 block of NW Watson.

Deputies responded to an assault report from the 200 block of West Main Street in Harrington.

A Sprague woman told dispatchers that her adult son became angry with her after repeatedly asking for money to buy beer.

Believing casing for possible burglaries was involved, a Davenport caller reported a Ford Explorer had pulled into driveways and high-beamed garages in the vicinity of the 900 block of Main Street.

Thursday, Feb. 14: Keys and about $100 from pop machines and the office were reported missing by Christian Heritage School personnel in Edwall.

After a caller described suspicious activity involving a man and woman in the vicinity of Sobek and Waukon roads, a responding deputy determined they were guests of a local resident who were just out for a walk.

A Sprague caller told dispatchers that a neighbor had refused to allow his dog to return to his custody.

A lock was drilled out of a pop machine at the Ag Link, Inc., outlet in Almira.

A burglary was reported at a residence in the 30000 block of SR 25 N north of Davenport.

Deputies responded to the 1000 block of Ninth Street in Davenport after a juvenile girl allegedly threw a glass at her sister.

Friday, Feb. 15: Needing repairs, the ferry at Keller was taken out of service for about four hours.

The driver involved in a one-vehicle collision on SR 231 about 1½ miles north of Reardan suffered "severe injury" to the face and hand and was described as "combative" before being transported to a Spokane hospital. Deputies investigated whether narcotics had anything to do with the collision.

A resident of the 10000 block of Linstrum Road North advised that his Sunday newspaper had been taken each week since early December, as well as some for other days.

A former Edwall resident now living in Montana reported that three cats had been stolen from her previous residence on Moffatt Avenue.

A Davenport man reported four teenagers threw a snowball at the window of a residence in the 1000 block of Main Street.

A Davenport woman told dispatchers someone had knocked on the door of her residence, where her son was by himself, then ran off.

A Sprague firefighter expressed concern about a man wearing a hardhat who appeared to be working on a cell tower on Cemetery Road. A responding deputy determined the man was indeed a Sprint employee.

A man was taken into custody for possession of marijuana after a traffic stop at Waukon and Hallett roads.

Saturday, Feb. 16: Odessa ambulance personnel assisted an 86-year-old woman who had suffered a panic attack.

Deputies investigated the deaths of four horses on property on Little Falls Road.

A Creston man reported that threats had been made by a woman who allegedly told him she had four men ready to hurt him.

A small rocket-style motorcycle was reportedly racing on Sixth Street near Davenport Laundry.

Sunday, Feb. 17: A Davenport woman reported three Lab dogs missing from her residence in the 900 block of Eleventh Street.

Davenport ambulance personnel assisted a 77-year-old woman who took a fall and was unable to get into a car.

Corrections deputies found narcotics on a female inmate they were processing into the county jail.

A male inmate faced a third-degree assault charge after allegedly spitting at corrections deputies while being moved from one cell to another.

Callers described a recklessly driven vehicle on SR 2 between Airway Heights and Davenport, noting it tailgated other vehicles and made unsafe passes. Catching up with the vehicle at Janett Road east of Davenport, a deputy cited the driver for speeding and was told that she was late for a baby shower in Wilbur.

Criminal Disposition

John Stephen Granchie, 24, pleaded guilty Feb. 12 to third-degree theft (amended through plea negotiations from second-degree theft), in connection with an Aug. 9, 2012, incident involving an Odessa resident's debit card. His sentence included a day in jail (credited as served), $743 court costs and 12 months probation.

Civil Judgments

E-Care, Inc., (Renegade Resistance), of Davenport, must pay unemployment insurance contributions totaling $14,444.55 to the Washington State Department of Employment Security.

Martin and Glinski, doing business as The Viking in Sprague, must pay unemployment insurance contributions totaling $1,171.93 to the Washington State Department of Employment Security.

New Criminal Case

Justin Robert Derby, 26, of Iowa, is charged with attempt to elude a police vehicle, four counts of second-degree burglary, four counts of third-degree theft, three counts of third-degree malicious mischief and a count of possession of a deadly weapon ("metal knuckles") in connection with break-ins at Harrington Foods, Harrington Truck and Auto, Kathy's Market in Sprague and Cederblom's in Edwall Jan. 30-31 and a police pursuit on Feb. 1.

New Civil Cases

Capital One Bank seeks a default judgment for $2,497.69, plus interest and court costs, against Kathy E. McClure, of Odessa, claiming unpaid credit card debt.

In a matter involving Robert Dawson and Arnold Dawson, insured by Nationwide Insurance Co., and Melanie and Paul Mattox, on behalf of a minor child, the court appointed a settlement guardian ad litem to report findings related to a June 2012 traffic accident.
