Many of these vehicles are expected to be transported from state to state, repaired and put back on the market at auto auctions, used car dealerships and even by private sellers. Consumers in Washington should take extra precautions by adding flood damage to the list of concerns to be aware of when purchasing a u...

The 46th annual Odessa Deutschesfest drew enthusiastic crowds to all of the events offered. Despite some relatively light rain during the Saturday morning parade and the threat of even windier conditions, the folks who attended appeared not to be bothered much at all. The rain cleared up by about noon, and the forecast winds were not as bad as had been predicted. The vendors we talked to said they were prepared for such contingencies and had well-secured booths. The rain that...

That four-day visit occurred in late June. Now, we await the team's report based on documents we sent them in May and the facts they gathered from their visit. The full LCME meets in late...

A rig hauling a huge power transformer made its way through Odessa on SR21 Tuesday. A second transformer will make the trip at about the same time next week, one of the truck drivers said. The rig supporting the transformer was...
Why do cheetahs run fast? –Shanyu, 9, London, UK. Dear Shanyu, Cheetahs are in really good shape. Not only are they good runners, but the actual shape of their body helps them move at incredible speeds. As the fastest cats on the planet, they can reach 75 mph. Whenever I lace up my shoes and run, I can only reach about 30 mph. We tabby cats are pretty quick, but not quick enough to outrun a cheetah. The difference has to do with a cheetah’s amazing anatomy – everything from its head and skeleton to its muscles and feet....

(Davenport, Wash., August 24, 2016.) It has been a year and a half since the Lincoln County Economic Development Council and WSU Extension hosted a forum to address childcare issues. The impetus for the forum was a survey of local companies on the impact that child care has on their business. The results of that survey and the large turnout at the forum confirmed what we’d been hearing – a lack of childcare services in Lincoln County was having a negative effect on our families and our businesses. Fast forward to summer 201...
