Crowd on the Fourth in 1915 was biggest to date

In the early part of the 20th Century, observing the Fourth of July was the major celebration of the year. The one in 1915 apparently surpassed them all, up to that time.

The Record carried this account of the event in its issue of July 9, 1915:

The largest crowds of people ever seen in this town was here last Saturday to celebrate the Fourth of July. And while the Friday crowds was also a big one, it was not of the same proportion as that of the second day.
