Mother Nature Takes a Shower

When I awoke the other morning, tears were falling from the sky.

Gray clouds were truly sobbing, yes, I saw the heavens cry!

Fresh aromatic fragrance, the air pristine and clear,

As Mother Nature bathed herself, and cleansed the atmosphere.

The parched earth was so thankful, as moisture quenched a thirst.

The awful drought had been severe, one the very --- worst.

Sprouts of wheat were smiling, on rolling slopes of grain,

Their shoots, now stretching skyward, to swallow in the rain.

Wild flowers in the pasture, one could almost see them grin.

Yes Mother Nature did provide, so they could bloom again.

Gnarled bush along the gully, reaching for the clouds, its limbs,

The music of once dry leaves, whispers soft, a praise of hymns.

From the meadowlark, a symphony, perched upon the dampened sage.

She outperforms Tchaikovsky, while singing solo, center stage!

The earth doth seem elated, the bird, the bush, the flower,

And the tillers of the soil, well, this is their ---euphoric hour!

The wildlife is sustained, as their habitat turns green,

And cattle now will graze, quite contented and serene.

Soon will come the harvest, the combine's sickle, it will reap,

And shelves again will bulge with bread, because the sky did weep.

Thanks be given for due measure, as breezes blow in from the west. This surely is the Promised Land, for this country is so blessed.
