Filing period announced for primary, general elections

The official filing period for the fall elections will be held May 13 through May 17, 2013.

All offices are subject to both Primary and General Elections. If more than two candidates file for a position, the Primary Election would narrow the field to two candidates who would then appear on the General Election ballot.

The filing fee of 1% of the annual salary shall accompany the Declaration of Candidacy. There is no fee if the office sought is without a fixed salary.

Anyone wishing to file may do so at the Lincoln County Auditor's Office between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. during the stated filing period. Mail-in Declarations must not have a postmark earlier than April 29. Declarations by mail must be in the Lincoln County Auditor’s office no later than the last day of the filing period, May 17, at 4 p.m. and must include the correct filing fee if any is required.

Odessa School District #105 has three board members up for re-election: Area 1 director Joseph Schlomer, Area 3 director Travis Wagner and director-at-large Heather Valverde.

Odessa Area Dist. #3 Fire Commissioner Matthew Kagele’s six-year term is expiring.

Odessa Area Hospital District #1 commissioners whose terms are expiring are A. Lani Schorzman (currently completing a six-year term), commissioner Debra Walter (also completing a six-year term), and Carol Kniola (currently completing a four-year unexpired term).

The Town of Odessa’s council position #3 was filled early in 2013 by Landon J. Lobe, whose position will be up for (re-)election to a four- year term. Lois Harp’s #4 position is also expiring.

To find out more information regarding filing week or any of the above offices or terms please contact the Lincoln County Auditor's office 725-4971.
