The Lincoln County Sheriff's Office does not release names of individuals who report possible criminal or suspicious activities to dispatchers or alleged victims for this column.

Monday, March 17: Public Works was advised of a sign down at Brown Road and Old Sprague Highway.

Four deputies responded to a domestic assault report originating from the 400 block of Willis Street in Harrington.

Deputies cited a man observed drinking a beer in front of Davenport Family Foods.

A caller phoned in her belief that missing cats may have been shot in the 400 block of Adams Street in Davenport.

Property valued at about $250 was believed stolen from a residence in the 400 block of East Brooke in Sprague.

Deputies decided to allow parents to handle a boy who was observed urinating near the Davenport fire station.

An Almira man reported siphoning of a vehicle parked in the 100 block of North 4th Street.

Deputies investigated the theft of welding torch leads from the 5800 block of Brown Road East in the Sprague area.

Receiving a report that a "suspicious" man was observed near the Morgan Street Bed and Breakfast in Davenport, responding deputies arrested a man for escaping from state Department of Corrections' community custody. His apprehension didn't occur, however, without deputies having to deal with the suspect's being "aggressive," spitting and fighting.

Tuesday, March 18: An Edwall caller reported a man outside a residence acting suspiciously.

Davenport firefighters extinguished a vehicle fire along SR 25 about seven miles north of the city.

Wednesday, March 19: Avista Utilities personnel dealt with an electrical outage in Wilbur. Alarms at Town Hall and the library went off. About half the town was reported without power, including most of the downtown corridor.

A passerby found a 55-gallon drum of sodium hydroxide, mostly empty, on the side of the road near the Hawk Creek gravel pit. County Transfer Station personnel handled disposal.

Someone threw a rock through a window at a residence in the 300 block of West Sherlock Street in Harrington.

Deputies investigated a possible incident of cyberstalking and communicating with a minor for immoral purposes.

Dispatchers took a report of a theft of 14 sprinkler heads from property near Marlin Road.

Thursday, March 20: Almira EMTs assisted a woman who fell from a wheelchair and needed help getting back up.

A Reardan woman told dispatchers that a man harassed her in Davenport while she walked to the post office and bank.

Deputies investigated a narcotics incident in Davenport.

Damage to a fence was reported after a pitbull type dog was observed in a Sterling Valley Road resident's front yard.

Corrections officers checked out the women's side of the county jail after inmates reported smoke and the odor of burnt wires. Nothing out of the ordinary was found.

Friday, March 21: Horses were reported outside the fence in the 800 block of SW Alder in Wilbur.

Deputies checked out a report that people used drugs with children inside a residence in the Creston area.

A Harrington resident reported a break-in through the bathroom siding of a residence in the 400 block of West Glover. Documents and $5,100 cash were missing.

A loose horse belonging to a Four Corners Road resident was discovered at a residence on Mondovi Road.

Deputies responded to the 100 block of Washington Street in Davenport after receiving a report that someone had been shot twice in the leg with an Airsoft gun.

Odessa Police investigated a fraud report originating from the nursing home.

Odessa School District personnel requested local police assistance with an "unruly" student.

Reardan Police helped in a search for a missing 17-year-old boy who hadn't returned home from final exams at Eastern Washington University.

Saturday, March 22: A Davenport woman told dispatchers she and her children were frightened after someone continually knocked on a residence door on East Ross Street then hid.

A woman was treated at Lincoln Hospital after a tree fell on her head at property along SR 25 about 14 miles north of Davenport.

An Edwall area resident reported yard tools were taken without permission from her property.

Two vehicles collided at the intersection of SR 2 and Redwine Canyon Road near Creston. No one was reported seriously hurt.

A bull got "cranky" after a truck pulling a wood-paneled stock trailer apparently ran out of fuel on SR 2 at Zeimer Road near Davenport while on the way to Stockland Livestock Exchange. At one point, the bull seemed to be trying to tear down the side of the trailer and get out on the roadway.

Wilbur Police gave a man found sleeping behind Doxies restaurant a courtesy ride to the west county line.

Sunday, March 23: Sprague firefighters extinguished a brush fire on U.S. Bureau of Land Management property near Lake Valley Loop and Fishtrap roads believed to have been started by shooters.

Harrington ambulance personnel stepped in when a Davenport ambulance wouldn't start to assist a 61-year-old man having difficulty breathing at a residence in the 200 block of Maxwell Street. He was transported to Lincoln Hospital.

John Edward Homberg, 28, Spokane, pleaded guilty March 18 to second-degree burglary and third-degree theft (an additional charge of third-degree malicious mischief was dismissed as a result of plea negotiations). He must serve 45 days in jail or electronic home monitoring, play $800 court costs and restitution to be determined, 12 months probation and a chemical dependency evaluation and treatment. He cannot have any contact for two years with his parents (the victims of the July 8, 2013, break-in of their Odessa area garage, from which several tools were taken).
