Serving Lincoln County for more than a century!

Relay for Life walk coming on June 13 at Davenport HS

The Odessa Memorial Relay for Life team will participate in the Lincoln County Relay for Life Walk to be held at the Davenport High School track with the opening ceremony starting at 6 p.m. on June 13 and continuing until 7 a.m. on June 14. Teams from throughout Lincoln County have been working to raise funds for this event, a major fundraiser for the American Cancer Society in its fight to find a cure for all cancers and help more people celebrate birthdays.

The rally cry this year is “Keep Fighting,” as the walk serves to remember those who have lost their battle to cancer, celebrate with those who have survived cancer, and fight on with those currently battling cancer.

The team has been busy with fundraising and would like to finish strong. Team members are selling footprints on which purchasers can write their name or the name of someone to honor. The footprings are placed down the hallways of the hospital. They are also selling luminaria bags bearing the name of someone being honored either as a survivor, fighter or in remembrance. The bags will be lit at a special ceremony during the relay. Tickets for a drawing for two separate handmade quilts (on display at the hospital and clinic) are also being sold, and a fundraising lunch of nachos with all the fixings will be held June 11 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the hospital atrium.

Anyone interested in purchasing footprints, luminaria or quilt tickets, is asked to call or stop by the front desk at the hospital where the receptionist will provide directions to a team member who will be happy to assist.
