Lewis W. Kagele

Lewis W. Kagele was born on November 3, 1923 to Jake and Martha (Bischoff) Kagele in Ritzville, Wash. Lewis grew up on the family farm and attended school in Ritzville graduating from Ritzville High School.

Lewis later married Darlene Schell on November 18, 1945 in Ruff, Wash. They were farmers and ranchers southwest of Odessa and later owned and operated the Odessa Golf Course, where they built their retirement home and continued to live until Darlene's death in 2009. Lewis continued to live in Odessa until his health made it necessary to move to the Rose Garden Estates in Ritzville, where he lived for the past three years.

Lewis was an avid hunter, golfer, horseman, and outdoorsman. In his younger years he competed in many Northwest rodeos as a tie-down roper. He also took great pride in the mules he bred and trained for packing and riding. The scripture he loved to quote is; "This is the day the Lord has made. Let us rejoice and be glad in it."
