Editor’s note: Most items in this section reflect the starting point for response by local police and emergency agencies. The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office does not release names of individuals who report possible criminal or suspicious activities to dispatchers or alleged victims for this column.

Monday, Nov. 24: Harrington ambulance personnel assisted a woman who had fallen inside a Sherlock Street residence. She was transported to Lincoln Hospital in Davenport. Responding to an unrelated incident at an Alice Street residence, the crew assisted an older man who also had fallen.

Two men were taken to jail after deputies responded to a report that a building had been entered illegally and an attempt to take fuel from a vehicle had occurred in Wilbur.

A woman told dispatchers her child had locked her out of a vehicle while parked at the Davenport Safeway store.

Several Edwall residents reported a man was looking into windows and asking for gas money.

Traffic was blocked for a time as a result of a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Twelfth and Morgan streets in Davenport.

A caller advised Odessa Police of a possible intoxicated driving incident and that a passenger of the pickup truck involved was observed inside a local grocery store wearing a wedding dress over regular clothes.

Tuesday, Nov. 25: Snow on SR 174 north of Wilbur sent a vehicle into a ditch and caused a semi-truck to get stuck.

A caller reported a five-gallon gas can was taken from a residence on Pierce Drive north of Davenport.

Reardan Police became involved in a juvenile-related incident reported at the Reardan school.

Wednesday, Nov. 26: Davenport firefighters extinguished a smoldering power pole on Hawk Creek Ranch Road North.

A caller from the Harrington area reported receiving threatening text messages and phone calls.

Deputies investigated a possible child abuse incident in the western part of the county.

Deputies responded to a possible trespassing incident on property near Mill Canyon Road.

A pickup truck got stuck in mud on Burlington Northern Santa Fe right-of-way near Sprague near the intersection of Fishtrap and Sprague Highway roads.

Harrington emergency personnel and deputies assisted a man who appeared to be under the influence of a controlled substance and had made threats against himself while sitting inside a vehicle within the city limits.

A Creston caller reported two dogs continuously barking in the 500 block of Jump Street.

Thursday, Nov. 27: A lost puppy was discovered at Davenport Family Foods.

Deputies investigated a Davenport man’s claim that two women had been threatening and harassing him.

Deputies terminated a target practice session involving pistols and several people at Pitney Point east of Egypt due to a possibly unsafe backdrop.

Deputies responded to a verbal domestic dispute at a residence on Bachelor Flats Drive in the Creston area.

Davenport ambulance personnel assisted a 58-year-old woman who was experiencing “severe” pain.

Dispatchers were advised that a man was treated at a Moses Lake hospital after being assaulted by three men who were occupants of a vehicle he had pulled over to assist on SR 28 about 10 miles east of Odessa.

Friday, Nov. 28: Davenport and Reardan emergency personnel assisted a woman with a possible broken hip who later was transported to Lincoln Hospital.

Wilbur ambulance personnel transported a man having difficulty breathing from the Wilbur Clinic to Lincoln Hospital in Davenport.

A caller told dispatchers that two men who were shooting at ducks were trespassing on property near Sprague Lake.

After receiving a phone call from an Everett, Wash., jewelry store wanting her credit card information, a Sprague woman advised dispatchers that her personal information may have been stolen and asked what she should do next.

Reardan Police responded to a possible domestic dispute in the vicinity of Broadway Avenue and Birch Street.

Saturday, Nov. 29: Davenport ambulance personnel were at the ready for any Harrington calls while the latter’s unit was undergoing repairs.

Lincoln Hospital personnel asked for assistance with a “combative” patient who tested positive for methamphetamine.

Deputies checked out a report that someone was sleeping in one of the Pioneer Plaza bathrooms in Davenport, but found no one there.

Deputies helped in the search for a possibly suicidal woman living in the Harrington area who eventually was found near Coulee City. She spent the night in a Wilbur motel and agreed to seek help at a Spokane hospital the following morning.

Responding to a trespassing incident, a deputy “strongly warned” occupants of a pickup truck discovered on state land and privately held property near Hansen and Teel Hill roads north of Davenport.

A vehicle sustained front end damage after colliding with a deer on SR 2 near Creston.

Lincoln Hospital personnel asked for assistance from law enforcement after a 19-year-old man arrived from Harrington, covered in blood and claiming that someone was attempting to kill him. Responding deputies investigated the claims while arrangements were made for the patient to receive a mental health evaluation.

Reardan Police assisted a woman who had locked herself out of her car parked near the high school.

Sunday, Nov. 30: A low power line was reportedly making contact with a fence near Hatten and Swanson School roads. Inland Power and Light Co. responded and determined it was an abandoned phone line.

A Davenport woman requested assistance after locking herself out of a house in the 800 block of Thirteenth Street, leaving a 4-month-old boy inside by himself.

Odessa ambulance personnel responded to the intersection of Laney Brothers and Coyote Heights roads where a one-vehicle rollover collision had occurred. The 17-year-old girl who was driving was transported to the local hospital.

A caller told dispatchers that diesel fuel was removed from a vehicle in the vicinity of Gunning and Alfalfa roads north of Davenport.

Criminal Sentencing

Kermit Joaquin Sexton, 64, formerly of Wilbur and St. Augustine, Fla., pleaded guilty Nov. 19 to intimidating a public servant (amended through plea negotiations from intimidating a judge). His sentence includes 30 days jail, 12 months community custody (completed in Florida or another state of residence), repayment of $1,977 in extradition costs to Lincoln County, $800 court costs, completion of substance abuse and mental health treatment programs, and compliance with a no-contact order through Nov. 18, 2024, protecting Judge John Strohmaier, who was the focus of incidents between Jan. 8 and March 6 of this year.

Criminal Sentencings

Joanie Marie Flett, 33, Wellpinit, pleaded guilty Nov. 18 to carrying a concealed weapon without a permit (amended through plea negotiations from second-degree unlawful possession of a firearm and possessing a stolen firearm). She must report by Feb. 18, 2015, to serve two days jail and pay $700 court costs plus attorney fees. The charge involves a July 10 traffic stop just north of Davenport. Taken to the county jail, deputies discovered and removed a revolver loaded with two live bullets that she had tucked into her pants.

Nathan Earl Eldred, 37, Wellpinit, pleaded guilty Nov. 18 to driving while under the influence, second-degree rendering criminal assistance, second-degree possession of stolen property and possession of methamphetamine (amended in plea negotiations from residential burglary and second-degree burglary). His sentence includes 90 days jail, 12 months community custody, a $900 fine, $800 court costs plus attorney fees, completion of a treatment program through the Spokane County Drug Court, DUI victims’ panel, ignition interlock and no possession or use of alcohol or non-prescribed drugs. The charges are connected to incidents on Feb. 14 and 15, 2013, during which lawnmowers and other equipment and tools were stolen from a residence north of Davenport. A co-defendant, Stephen L. Murphy, 34, Davenport, pleaded guilty to possession of stolen property and was sentenced in March.

Mark James Atchison, 42, Coulee Dam, pleaded guilty Nov. 19 to second-degree burglary (amended through plea negotiations from two counts of residential burglary, second-degree and third-degree theft) in connection with incidents on Sept. 9 and 12 at a residence on Douglas Road East in the Almira area, from which dinnerware, silverware, clothing, liquor, a compressor, six silver dollars in a jar and other items were taken, along with a Sheriff’s Office surveillance camera that had been installed there after the first incident. Another camera caught an image of the defendant riding a mountain bike. His sentence includes completion of a 30-month prison-based drug treatment program, 29½ months community custody, $800 court costs and restitution to be determined.

Chadrick Strode, of Davenport, must return $141.14 in overpaid unemployment compensation benefits to the Washington State Department of Employment Security

Laurence J. Libsack, of Odessa, must return $1,873.72 in overpaid unemployment compensation benefits to the Washington State Department of Employment Security.

Douglas E. and Robin L. Nachtigal, doing business as Let Er Brew, in Davenport, must pay $1,964.58 owed in taxes from May through August to the Washington State Department of Revenue.

New Criminal Case

Dennis Patrick Reed, 39, of Spokane and Cheney, is charged with first-degree robbery while armed with a firearm in connection with an Oct. 12 incident on land adjacent to Indian Creek Road north of Davenport. He is accused of pointing a firearm at a man he believed was trespassing and taking a rifle from him during the opening weekend of modern rifle hunting season.
