Monday, Jan. 26: A deputy responded to an illegal burn in a backyard in the 900 block of Morgan Street in Davenport.

Someone took meat and a camera from the Odessa meat processing plant without authorization.

Responding to the 900 block of Morgan Street in Davenport, deputies responded to a domestic violence incident involving a man and woman, who were both taken into custody.

Believed to be from the same source, harassing text and Facebook messages were sent to several Harrington students and to staff at Davenport Vision Source.

A county Public Works employee reported seeing a fertilizer rig traveling SR 23, Mohler and Harrington Tokio roads in violation of weight restrictions.

A Mohler man reported his horses were chased by a 250-pound pig. A deputy warned the pig’s owner to secure it in order to avoid penalties. Later, deputies responded to a trespassing incident at the same location.

A Davenport man reported medications had been taken from his truck while parked in the 600 block of Lincoln Street.

A Davenport woman told dispatchers that she had received a threatening phone call.

Deputies assisted four individuals who were adrift on Lake Roosevelt between Sterling Point and the Lincoln boat launch.

Two cattle escaped from StockLand Livestock Exchange in Davenport and headed south on SR 28.

Harrington and Davenport firefighters responded to a blaze that fully engulfed a shop building on Mecklenburg Road North.

Tuesday, Jan. 27: Almira EMTs and Wilbur ambulance personnel assisted a 79-year-old woman who may have suffered dehydration.

Freezing fog and resulting slippery road conditions may have contributed to a rollover collision involving a semi-truck on SR 174 near Grand Coulee, from which an ambulance crew was sent to transport the driver to the local hospital. A similar two-vehicle collision was reported on SR 231 near Reardan.

A county jail inmate complaining of chest pains was taken to the Davenport clinic for a checkup.

Several vehicles may have become stuck on or near Burlington Northern Santa Fe railroad tracks north of Bluestem Road and west of Stutheit Road.

Heavy black smoke being emitted from the exhaust of a truck on U.S. 2 between Davenport and Reardan prompted two calls from a caller.

A Davenport woman told dispatchers that a dog chased her in the vicinity of Jefferson and Seventh streets.

Drivers of one or two vehicles are believed responsible for several brodies spun in a field adjacent to Ringwood Road south of the Laney Road T near Odessa. Damage was reported to the alfalfa field, where two floor mats and other evidence were found.

A Davenport woman requested assistance with an unwanted person on property in the 900 block of Morgan Street.

Reardan Police investigated a break-in at the R-Store on Lake Street.

Wednesday, Jan. 28: A caller told dispatchers about someone claiming to be with the IRS leaving a voice message and requesting a callback.

Sprague ambulance personnel transported a 74-year-old man suffering from dementia and threatening to hit people with a broom from the 200 block of B Street to a Spokane hospital.

Deputies dealt with the driver of a semi-truck reported to be traveling Gunning Road near Davenport in violation of weight restrictions.

Residents along SR 25 north of Davenport reported checks missing from their mailboxes.

A collision involving a vehicle and deer occurred on SR 25 about two miles north of Davenport.

After stopping a vehicle that had been reported as being recklessly driven on SR 2 east of the Telford rest area, a deputy was told by the driver that he was tired due to being up all night.

Suspecting a scam, a woman who was recently widowed told dispatchers she had received a call from people claiming to be with two insurance companies who asked for personal information, including Social Security numbers.

After his finger changed colors and became swollen, a county jail inmate was transported to Lincoln Hospital, where staff removed two rings that was constricting the finger.

Thursday, Jan. 29: Dispatchers took a report that a Davenport woman’s computer was stolen from a residence in the 900 block of Morgan Street.

Friday, Jan. 30: EMTs from Reardan and Edwall assisted a 77-year-old man experiencing chest pains.

Assisted by deputies, Reardan Police responded to a report from local school personnel of a 5-year-old boy with bruising to his ear and scalp.

Someone in a pickup truck, while trespassing on property at Rocklyn Road and U.S. 2, shot a coyote, prompting the landowner to contact deputies.

Wilbur Police determined that what a caller thought were toxic fumes coming from a mobile home in the 100 block of NE Knox originated from carpet being installed there and that no one was in danger.

Wilbur Police assisted a mother who was concerned about her 10-year-old son she described as “verbally and physically violent” and having trouble at school.

Saturday, Jan. 31: Responding to a residence on Redwine Canyon Road, Lincoln EMTs and Creston ambulance personnel assisted a 79-year-old woman who lost consciousness.

Ten pigs were reported loose on Euclid Road near Reardan.

Davenport ambulance personnel transported a 101-year-old woman who was feeling faint and had difficulty breathing to Lincoln Hospital.

Catching up with it at Trader’s Express in Davenport, deputies stopped a vehicle reported to have been driven recklessly on U.S. 2 near Oehlwein Road.

Deputies responded to a report of someone illegally burning rubber in a fire pit on property adjacent to SR 174 north of Wilbur.

Sunday, Feb. 1: A Davenport area woman reported she received “threatening comments” and that several trespassing incidents had occurred.

Deputies and mental health personnel were called in after a report that a 25-year-old “extremely intoxicated” man was possibly trying to hurt himself in the Almira area.

Deputies and Wilbur Police responded to a Wilbur man’s call that someone was intoxicated and scaring children in the 500 block of East Trinity.

Criminal Sentencing

Jessica Lynette Garza, 28, of Spokane, pleaded guilty Jan. 27 to possession of methamphetamine, third-degree theft and third-degree malicious mischief in connection with an Aug. 3, 2014, incident at a residence on Hawk Creek Ranch Road north of Davenport. Through plea negotiations, a charge of residential burglary was withdrawn. Her sentence includes 30 days jail with credit for time served, a $1,000 fine, $800 court costs, restitution and attorney fees to be determined and 12 months community supervision. She must complete a drug/alcohol evaluation and treatment and must not possess or use any non-prescribed controlled substances.

New Criminal Cases

Samuel Lee Marks, 39, formerly of Wilbur and now of Davenport, is charged with bail-jumping in the aftermath of his alleged failure to report to jail on Jan. 24 as ordered by the court after his conviction on a charge of second-degree theft.

Taylor R. Mashtare, 20, of Reardan, is charged with second-degree burglary and third-degree theft in connection with the Jan. 27 break-in at the R-Store in Reardan, from which alcohol, cigarettes and money were reported taken. Rocks were thrown through a store window to gain entry, according to court documents.

New Juvenile Offender Matter

A 16-year-old Reardan boy is charged with fourth-degree assault (domestic violence) in connection with a Jan. 14 incident in Reardan that allegedly involved his brother.

New Civil Case

A Feb. 10 hearing is scheduled to consider a domestic violence protection order requested by Christine D. Cannon, of Davenport, on behalf of a 14-year-old boy, against Pascia M. Backman. A temporary order is in effect.
