Virginia Fiess

Virginia Gail Fiess, age 70, passed away peacefully on October 9, 2015, after a brief hospital stay at Swedish Medical Center in Seattle. She was born to the late William Cinotto and the late Dorothy (Meyers) Cinotto on December 30, 1944, at Madison Street Hospital in Seattle. Virginia graduated from Renton High School, with the class of 1963.

On February 4, 1967, Virginia married the love of her life Keith Arthur Fiess at Village Chapel in Renton. In 1976, they moved from Renton to Wilson Creek, where they began their love of farming. Soon after settling in Wilson Creek, Virginia and Keith became dryland wheat farmers in the Marlin/Wilson Creek areas. In 1994, they were in a tragic automobile collision, involving an impaired driver, where her husband Keith and sister Betty perished. In the collision, Virginia sustained a spinal cord injury for which she lived “courageously” for the next 21 years.

In addition to raising their two children, Virginia bowled on women’s and mixed-couple leagues at Sunset Lanes in Renton and at Odessa Bowl. She was a member of the Marlin Gun Club and a member of Salem Lutheran Church in Marlin, among many other community involvement activities. She was also an accomplished seamstress and enjoyed making various crafts, cooking and canning.

More recently, she spent time creating hand-stamped cards. Virginia’s love for creating cards could be seen in the cards that she sent to family and friends for birthdays, holidays and any other special occasions. She was a volunteer for Bridge Ministries for the last 15 years, where she provided them with hundreds of handmade greeting cards.

Left behind to honor her memory is her son, Mark Fiess of Moses Lake; her daughter, Shannon (Brian) Thompson of Snohomish and grandson, Connor Keith Thompson; her brother, Dick (Judy) Alzheimer of Montana; her brother-in-law, Craig (Mary) Fiess of Sacramento, Calif .; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews and close friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Keith and three sisters, Barbara Adams, Wyona Kievet and Betty Peterson.

Memorial services will be held November 14, 2015 at 11 a.m. at Evergreen Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, 1607 4th Street NE, Marysville, WA 98270 and on November 15, 2015 at 1 p.m. at Salem Lutheran Church in Marlin.
