INCIDENT LOG

Editor’s note: Most items in this section reflect the starting point for response by local police and emergency agencies. The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office does not release names of individuals who report possible criminal or suspicious activities to dispatchers or alleged victims for this column.

Monday, Jan. 18: The driver of a vehicle that went off U.S. 2 and into a ditch near the county line east of Reardan was placed into custody by the Washington State Patrol on suspicion of driving under the influence.

Two county deputies assisted an Odessa officer in responding to a report of a domestic assault at a residence on Laney Brothers Road. They found the woman involved safe inside but unwilling to open her door to talk with them.

A vehicle slid off Porcupine Bay Road north of Davenport.

After a Davenport man advised dispatchers that someone may have gotten into a shed in the 700 block of Main Street, a responding deputy determined that tracks in the nearby snow came from Avista Utilities meter readers.

The driver of a vehicle that sunk into snow on the shoulder along SR 231 about two miles south of Edwall explained that he had pulled over to make a phone call.

Tuesday, Jan. 19: A vehicle slid off U.S. 2 just east of the Telford rest area.

No injuries were reported after a vehicle with three occupants went down a steep embankment on U.S. 2 near Mountain View Cemetery Road west of Davenport.

Deputies responded to a burglary report in the Wilbur area.

A Davenport caller reported hearing a single knock on her door over the past three nights and requested additional patrols in the vicinity of the 500 block of Ross Street.

A vehicle slide-off was reported on U.S. 2 and Oehlwein Road east of Davenport.

County Public Works personnel reported residents on Mill Canyon Road northwest of Davenport were parking their vehicles along the roadway in order to avoid becoming stuck in their private driveways, but an impediment to traffic resulted.

A Sprague woman requested assistance with her teenage son who became agitated and jumped on her back.

Wilbur Police investigated a report of threats made against a local woman.

A Reardan woman told local police that she injured her leg during an alleged assault that occurred 10 days previously.

Wednesday, Jan. 20: Sprague ambulance personnel responded to a report of someone laying over the steering wheel of a vehicle along Interstate 90.

Deputies investigated a possible sex-related offense in the Davenport area.

No injuries were reported after a two-vehicle collision occurred on Hart Road near its intersection with SR 25 north of Davenport.

An Odessa woman told dispatchers that a vehicle heading east on SR 28 from Batum Road was being driven in a reckless manner at speeds of more than 90 miles per hour and that she almost was run off the road.

A deputy checked out a report that windows had been mysteriously opened at a residence in the 300 block of Sinclair Street in Davenport after a resident recalled they had been closed.

Odessa Police investigated the theft of benches from a residence in the 0 block of West 4th Avenue.

Thursday, Jan. 21: A natural gas leak was discovered in the alley behind Davenport City Hall. Firefighters and Avista Utilities personnel responded.

A Harrington area farmer reported the theft of a pistol he kept in a tractor.

A vehicular collision took place in a parking lot near the Davenport post office.

Fire engulfed a vehicle that was about 20 feet from a structure in the 500 block of SE County Road in Wilbur.

A collision involving a vehicle and deer was reported on U.S. 2 near Wilbur.

A man told Odessa Police that while driving through the 100 block of East 1st Avenue with his children, another man flipped him off, apparently in retaliation for how he felt he had been treated earlier in the day.

Friday, Jan. 22: A caller reported that $408 had been stolen from soda pop machines that sustained about $1,500 in damage as well at both Interstate 90 Sprague rest areas.

Deputies investigated repeated incidents of littering along Mohler Road.

A woman told dispatchers that she had twice been tailgated by a vehicle that followed her on U.S. 2 and SR 231 after she left work.

Deputies were advised of a possible verbal dispute involving two men sharing a residence in the 200 block of Washington Street in Davenport.

Davenport City Hall personnel advised dispatchers that six Kirby vacuum salespeople working the city had been issued permits for that activity.

Saturday, Jan. 23: Responding to the Reardan fire station, emergency personnel from Reardan and Edwall joined a Davenport ambulance crew to provide assistance to a woman who may have suffered cardiac arrest.

A Davenport woman told dispatchers she heard footsteps and saw the shadow of a person in an alley behind the 600 block of Maxwell Street.

Sunday, Jan. 24: A truck slid off SR 28 near Harrington. No injuries were reported.

Safeway store personnel in Davenport found a local woman’s purse shoved into a grocery aisle shelf after she had reported it stolen. After realizing she left the store without the purse, she couldn’t find it when she went back.

Deputies took a man into custody after responding to a report of disorderly conduct, with alcohol believed involved, in the 300 block of 1st Street in Sprague. The report noted a man was yelling at people and broke out the headlights on a vehicle.

Dispatchers took a report of a strange odor and smoke coming from the Lightning Nuggets building in the 600 block of Logan Street in Davenport. It was determined that a “furnace issue” was the cause.

A Davenport man said he had been punched in the face during a domestic dispute at a residence in the 1100 block of Adams Street.

Odessa Police responded to a report of a hit and run collision in the 300 block of South Division Street that resulted in unspecified property damage.

Criminal Sentencing

Tyler Franklin Wilson, 29, of Davenport, pleaded guilty Jan. 19 to solicitation to possess heroin (amended through plea negotiations from possession of heroin). His sentence includes three days jail, $900 court assessments, $600 public defender fees, 24 months unsupervised probation, drug/alcohol evaluation and treatment, drug testing, no possession or use of non-prescribed drugs, and continuing outpatient therapy. The charge involves a June 10, 2015, incident during which a deputy and local ambulance personnel responded to a 911 emergency call regarding a heroin overdose.

Civil Judgment

Charles D. Potts, doing business as Banks Lake Pub in Wilbur, must pay $1,026.94 in overdue worker compensation taxes to the Washington State Department of Labor and Industries.

New Civil Case

In a foreclosure matter involving property at 404 South Second Street in Harrington, Nationstar Mortgage LLC seeks the $64,474.68 owing on a $115,500 mortgage loan, plus interest and costs, from Warren McPeak, of Harrington, and the U.S. Secretary of Housing and Urban Development.
