Fund-raiser hosted for local Odessa food bank

Hello Odessa.

My name is Charlotte Jensen. Recently I volunteered to have a fund-raiser for our local food bank. I did this for two reasons. I enjoy doing these types of things, and there is a definite need for it.

My husband and I have lived here several years, but don’t know everyone in town yet. The people we do know we are happy to call friends. We both grew up poor, but we always had something to eat. My mother grew up very, very poor and often her family struggled to have a meal, going hungry a lot. I’m sure that is why growing up it was her priority to always have plenty for us to eat. I’m sure some of you can relate to our story. I know with the rising cost of food, well, with the rising cost of everything, it can be a real struggle nowadays to have food for the family to eat.

So I’m asking for our town to please join us for the food bank fundraiser Saturday, February 27, at 5 p.m. at Zion Emmanuel Lutheran Church (on the hill) for a taco feast and silent auction. There will be lots of smiles and laughter and even a fun photo booth for you and your family or friends to enjoy. Please join us for a good time, and a good cause.
