Donations requested for Odessa's local Food Bank

The Odessa church-based youth group will be conducting the annual food drive for the Odessa Food Bank this year. Their motto is “Give a can, feed a man. Fill a sack, give back.”

On Sunday, November 6, they will be distributing grocery bags to homes around town. They will pick up the food donations from the homes on Sunday afternoon, November 13, giving the community a week to shop and share from their bounty.

The winter months are always the most difficult for those who are on fixed incomes. The Food Bank, under the auspices of the Odessa Community Ministerial Association, also helps with heating bills and with the unexpected ups and downs that happen in life.

The youth group will also place a grocery cart at Odessa Foods for your convenience. The groceries in the cart will be collected Sunday, November 13.

The Food Bank serves approximately 80 families during the holiday season. Donations make it possible to be a monthly stop-gap for families and individuals and continue to serve their needs throughout the year.

“Donations are always welcome any time of year, whether monetary or in the form of non-perishable goods,” said Julie Jantz, food bank coordinator.
