More snow forecast for Christmas

A tall snowman stands guard in the front yard of a First Avenue home. The cold temperatures of the past week kept the snow and ice in place until Tuesday's sudden thaw created streets full of slush. More snow is expected by Christmas, however even though the extreme cold seems to be behind us.

The weather in Odessa has left our community with more snow than we have seen in several years. Forecasts for the next week or so vary from whatever weather outlet one chooses to consult but seem to agree that we will have more snow from Friday into Saturday.

On Tuesday, town crews cleared much of the slush that followed the warm temperatures on Monday from the main streets and as many side streets as they could manage. Police chief Tom Clark kept vehicles from interfering with the snow removal equipment, so the job could be completed as quickly as possible and with as little disruption to businesses as possible.

Today's paper includes greetings from local businesses who value your patronage all year long. The Record and its staff wish everyone a safe and joyful holiday.
