Quilt til you Wilt Monday

On March 20, quilters from all over the northwest will converge on Odessa for the 22nd straight time to quilt their hearts out. This will be the 22nd year of the annual event. Quilting begins at 6 a.m. and ends at 10 p.m. and takes place at the Odessa Community Center.

The Odessa Quilt Club sponsors the event, providing the venue, coffee, tea, water and sweet rolls for the crowd. A potluck lunch is served buffet style at noon, and leftovers are brought back out for the evening meal at about 6 p.m. To help defray the cost of renting the community center and supplying beverages, the club is asking for donations from those who attend.

The event has grown over the years, and now about 100 attendees are expected. Many will visit the local quilt store and perhaps some of the other downtown businesses as well. Each visitor receives a packet of information from the Odessa club. Through the Odessa Chamber of Commerce, local business owners were encouraged to contribute advertising flyers, free give-aways, coupons, etc. to be included in each quilter’s packet.

Look for lots of new faces in town on Monday and please make the visitors feel welcome.
