Harrington students celebrate FFA week

The Harrington FFA Chapter was chartered in March of 1954. This year, the chapter has 32 members led by President Stormy Stiles, Vice President Markus Foley, Secretary Travis Bradford, Reporter Evie Mann, Sentinel Tash Sheldon and Historian Izzy Burke.

Many things about FFA have changed over the years, and Harrington's FFA chapter is experiencing some changes of its own. The chapter started its Pancake Feed in 2016 to provide breakfast during Harrington's Fall Festival. It also started a Christmas Extravaganza in 2016, selling Christmas trees and wreaths, as well as poinsettias raised by the horticulture class.

Members attended the 212/360 Leadership Conference earlier this month and also a food science contest sponsored by the Harrington chapter along with the Sprague FFA chapter.

For many years now, Linda and Charlie Colbert have allowed the chapter to set up animal pens in their field across from the school and raise pigs, lambs and goats to exhibit at the Spokane Jr. Livestock Show. This year, five pigs getting are being readied for the show.

Another exciting development for the chapter is the newly organized Harrington FFA Alumni group. These committed community members will help the Harrington FFA Chapter with financial support, agriculture-related activities and learning opportunities. As we celebrate National FFA Week in Harrington, the chapter is looking toward the future with anticipation.
