MOSES LAKE — More than 80 employers are expected to attend the 2019 Job and Career Fair scheduled for Thursday, February 28 on the Big Bend Community College campus. The annual job fair, which is in its 26th year, is the largest local event that places potential employees and employers under one roof.

The annual gathering will be held at the Masto Conference Center, inside the college’s ATEC Building, beginning at 9 a.m. and will continue until 2 p.m. This event is free and open to the public.

Employers at the event will represent a variety of industries including manufacturing, food processing, retail, service industries, health care, aerospace, education and technology. BBCC programs that provide training for these jobs will be onsite as well.

Several area resource agencies will also be in attendance this year.

“This is our 26th year. The event has continued to grow in the number of businesses participating and job seekers attending,” said BBCC Career Services Coordinator Jody Bortz. “Our reputation now draws out-of-state and prominent employers to the event, including Boeing, Bergstrom Aircraft and state agencies and companies from Oregon, Idaho and Minnesota.”

More than 20 employers will be attending this year for the first time.

“Many new employers are coming this year, providing a new and varied opportunity to see what careers our community has to offer,” said Bortz. “We expect more than 80 employers to be represented this year, with some interviewing and hiring on the spot.”

Big Bend and WorkSource partners can provide resume and job preparation help to those who are planning to attend the Job and Career Fair through the BBCC Career Services Center. Anyone wanting to take advantage of this help should contact Big Bend Career Services at 509-793-2068 or WorkSource at 509-766-2559.

For a complete list of employers and exhibitors registered to attend, check out the event online on the Big Bend Facebook page or on the BBCC website. The list of confirmed employers will be updated weekly.

Employer and exhibitor registration is open until Feb. 23.

All participating vendors in the Big Bend Job & Career Fair February 28, 2019 will be on campus for employment purposes only. This is a community-wide event for ALL Big Bend students and members of the community.

Although some participating vendors represent legal immigration enforcement agencies, this event should be considered secure for DREAMEers, DACA recipients, and students and members of the community whose immigration status is undocumented. BBCC supports the equity and inclusion of all its students.
