Trapshooters persevere in frigid cold and snow

The Spokesman-Review’s Inland Northwest Trapshoot competition completed week 6 of competition on February 10, 2019. The Marlin and Odessa Gun Clubs participate in trap shooting from their respective locations but combine their scores to form one team that is entered into the competition.

Odessa

The bitter cold and snowdid not stop either local gun club from participating in the competition last Sunday.

Shooting a perfect 25 for Odessa were Lane Lobe and Steve Telecky. Coming in with 24 targets were Nick Tebow and Anthony Paszkeicz.

Landon Lobe shot 23, while Jon Fink, Ryan Lewis and Tom Schuh each shot 22.

Doug Tebow was sole shooter getting 21 targets. Those shooting 20 and under were Brian Wraspir, Lonnie Wilson, Garrett Braun, Colley Walter, Cody Stanford, Bill Weber, Tanner Stanford and Tucker Walter.

Marlin

With a high of 21 degrees in Marlin on Sunday, 38 shooters nevertheless turned out to shoot for the Marlin Gun Club.

The cold didn’t deter some participants from achieving top scores. Dan Asker, Mark Vendeweghe, Kody Vendeweghe and Cory Shearer shot perfect scores of 25. Four shooters also shot 24, Bill James, Dave Asker, Jim Schell and Jakob Starkel.

Doug Starkel, Rich Swanson and Kevin Myre shot 23 and shooting 22 were Mark Iksic, Carmen Eckhart, Juan Rocha and Andre Morales.

Shooting 21 were Mark Edwins, Todd Druffel, Josh Gray, Susan James, Brian Finkbeiner and Gage Starkel.

In the 20 and under category were Jim Imbert, Ken Eckhart, Doug Brashear, Chuck Ray, Ron Lesser, Brent Finkbeiner, Rob Imbert, Brooke Bonaudi, Jessie True, John Hettingh, Charlene Krause, Koby Lyons, Travis Shearer, Tiffany Shearer, Kevin Heer, Steve Freeman and Andjine VanBokkelen.

The high handicap award went to Todd Druffel and the high doubles went to Rob Imbert.
