Tiger team returns to form against Shockers

The Odessa Tiger football team returned to its winning ways following its bye week October 11. Against the Waterville/Mansfield Shockers, the Tigers had little trouble shutting out the opposing team.

Marcus King had another stellar game in which he scored three touchdowns on a pass interception, an 80-yard kickoff return and a 70-yard punt return. He added another four points in conversions for a total of 22 points.

Jett Nelson and Collin Martin shared the duties of quarterback. Nelson completed four passes for 108 yards and three TDs. Martin completed two of two for 65 yards and one TD.

Anthony Elder picked up 87 yards rushing and 38 yards receiving for a total of 125 yards. Brady Walter added another 86 yards on three pass receptions.

Daeton Deife was Mr. Defense in this game with five solo tackles and seven assists, including one quarterback sack. Gage Starkel also had a QB sack.

On Friday, October 25, the Tigers face Almira-Coulee-Hartline at 7 p.m., the only other undefeated team in the league. The Tigers have 6-0 record and the Warriors are 7-0. Friday is also senior night and homecoming for Odessa, so fans are encouraged to come out and support the team.
