Marlin and Odessa Gun Clubs open trapshooting

After winning the Division I men’s competition last year with a total of 799 points out of a possible 800, and the Youth Division as well with 726 points out of 800, the combined Marlin-Odessa Gun Club geared up for the 102nd year of this annual contest with first week of shooting on Sunday, January 5. The Marlin-Odessa women’s team finished fifth last year with a score of 622 out of 800.

The participants shoot at their respective clubhouses outside of Marlin and Odessa, then combine the scores of their top shooters for the competition.

Marlin Gun Club

Shooting 25 out of a possible 25 were Bill James, Jakob Starkel, Austin Nelson, Dave Asker, Doug Starkel, Rich Swanson and Dan Asker.

Hitting 24 targets were Kevin Myre and Mark Iksic.

Jim Imbert, Daryl Kimble and Chase Janett shot 23.

Hitting 22 were Andre Morales, Juan Rocha, Shelbey Brashear, Taeven Brashear, Camden Eckhart, Jessica Winston, Jim Schell and Paul Bowden.

Rob Imbert, Kaden Johnsen, Carmen Eckhart, Josh Gray, Dakota McAfee, Dylan Herr, Doug Brashear, and Scott Mortimer all shot 21.

Coming in at 20 and under John Hettingen, Izzy Kramer, Teri Kramer, JD Bluhm, Charlenne Krause, Garrett Johnson, Dusty Kimble, Kevin Herr, Ken Thompson, Elijah Long, Ken Eckhart, Jordan James, Susan James, Gage Starkel, Chuck Ray, Mark Brashear, Noel Bowden, Cort Kimble, Brayden Finkbeiner, Bill Roberts, Brian Finkbeiner, Ron Lesser, Brent Finkbeiner, Hunter James, Tate Heston, Vance Kiffer, Chuck Woodland and Bryan Winston.

High handicap shooter was Bill James, and high doubles shooter was Juan Rocha.

Odessa Gun Club

Shooting 25 were Markus Smith and Lane Lobe.

No one shot 24.

Getting 23 out of 25 targets were Landon Lobe, Pilot Weishaar, Nick Tebow and Jared Praetorius.

Max Greenwalt, Colley Walter, Jon Fink, Brian Wraspir, Garret Braun and Cody Stanford all shot 22.

Tanner Stanford and Ryan Lewis hit 22 targets.

Hitting 20 and under were Daeton Deife (20), Nathan Melcher (20), Trevor Smith, Stan Dammel, Carson Weber, Mitch Wraspir, Markus King, Drew Hardung, Tucker Walter, Vanessa Vanderweide, Cade Weber and Jared King.

High junior was Pilot Weishaar and high handicap was Nick Tebow.

Miss-n-out winner was Markus Smith and high doubles winner was Tanner Stanford.
