Davenport scouts join a "Murder Mystery Tea"

Davenport – "There has never been a better time to be involved in Scouting," says LaVon Stiles, a crew committee chair. There are two Boy Scouts of America affiliated units in Davenport according to the official BSA website scouting.org. Cub Scout Pack 4764 Jim M Gale VFW Post 7480 meets every Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 1310 Adams St. Stiles says this pack is open to boys ages five to ten.

Venturing Crew 764 meets the second Monday of each month at 6:00 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, 1007 Washington St. Venturing Crews are open to males and females ages 14 to 20 and children age 13 who have completed the eighth grade, according to Stiles.

Crew 764 is having an open house on Friday, March 13 at 6:00 p.m. at the Zion Lutheran Church.

The Boy Scouts of America national organization filed bankruptcy under Chapter 11 of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code on February 18, 2020 according to a press release from the BSA provided by Stiles. "The BSA is using this process to help ensure that all victims of past abuse in our programs receive compensation," the press release says, "Scouting is now safer than ever before."

The national organization bankruptcy has not affected the finances of local units.
