ODESSA - A local student-athlete will eceive the Lincoln-Adams 4-H Scholarship this year.

Marcus King, a 10-year mem-ber of the Junior Live-stock 4-H Club, will receive the $500 scholarship to be used toward his future college education.

King, who graduates July 18, plans to attend University of Idaho and major in agribusiness or crop management.

He is the son of Todd and Terri King of Odessa.

King's 4-H projects focused on beef production. He has exhibited market steers at the Lincoln County Fair.

The Odessa Club has received the Commissioner's Award several times in recent years. King believes he contributed to that effort by setting an example for all beef kids to be at the barn early during the fair, taking good care of the cattle , helping others with their animals, decorating the stall area, assisting the Beef Barn superintendent and by approaching all fair activities with a great attitude.

King served as the Odessa Junior Livestock 4-H president in 2017-18.

Other 4-H Club activities include Odessa Community Christmas Fest set-up, fair Club Steer Barn leader and the Lead4Change service project, Toasty Tots, which raised money to assist in providing warm winter clothing for area youth.

King has served as team captain for all three major high school boys sports - football, basketball and baseball.

He was a member and officer of Future Business Leaders of America, band, Knowledge Bowl, National Honor Society, and Associated Student Body as the student council representative.

King also works for King Hay Farms, Inc.
