Republicans "disappointed" with election

Local party waits for resolve of legal challenges

LINCOLN COUNTY – In the wake of the still uncertain 2020 election results, local Republican party leaders say they are disappointed with how the election has gone so far.

Two major elections in Washington, both for state governor and U.S. President are awaiting certification although it is projected Democrats will win the seats. Democrat Jay Inslee is leading the Washington State Governor’s Race with 56 percent of the vote statewide over challenger Loren Culp who is pulling 42 percent of the votes. Democrat Presidential Candidate Joe Biden has won 290 electoral college votes over incumbent Republican President Donald Trump with 217. A presidential candidate must win at least 270 electoral college votes to gain the presidency. However, suspicions about voting fraud abound in both races, as well as public frustration that media outlets have called the winner of both races before the Nov. 24 election certification.

“We are disappointed in the unscrupulous tactic in ballot counting and will not consider the election over until the results are certified and the legal challenges resolved,” said Lincoln County Republican Central Committee Chair Mary Blechschmidt.

Lincoln County does not currently have an active Democrat party, so a local representative was not able to comment on the election results.
