Quilt Club elects officers, makes plans

ODESSA – Elections were held at the Fronen Steppdecker, Odessa Quilt Club, November general meeting. Those elected were Lise ott, president; Dawn Nelson, vice-president; Debbie Buscher, secretary and JoEllen Wollman, treasurer.

Though there are no scheduled meetings in December, hand quilting is being done on a quilt originally started by Odessa’s Historical Museum members. When completed it will be used for fundraising by the Museum.

Plans were made to organize for all the usual Quilt Guild events in 2021, with committees being formed for the Quilters Tea/Chinese Auction in February, Quilt Til You Wilt in March and the annual Spring Fling Quilt Show in April. Plan like we can. Adjust if we have to.

The Quilts for Veterans Project has moved from the now closed Experience Quilts! location to become part of the club’s activities, and the general public is invited to join in. You do not have to be a member to participate in the making of these quilts. Contact Lise Ott is you would like to get a kit to sew or want information about other ways to help. The goal is to get every Odessa veteran a quilt made and presented.

The guild plans to resume regular Monday meetings 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. on January 4, 2021. Check the club website, http://www.odessaquiltclub.com for updated news about 2021 events.
