Avista customers in Sprague to experience a planned power outage

Last updated 12/9/2020 at 9:33am

SPOKANE — Approximately 480 Avista electric customers in the town of Sprague and the surrounding area will experience a planned power outage on Tuesday, Dec 15. The planned outage will begin at 2 a.m. and end at 4 a.m. No road closures are expected during this outage.

The planned outage is required as Avista crews conduct routine maintenance to their Sprague substation. The routine maintenance will increase reliability and reduce future outages in the area.

“We understand power outages can be inconvenient and we appreciate your patience,” Ian Eccles, manager of electric operations in Othello and the surrounding area, said in a Dec. 7 news release. “To limit the impact to customers we are conducting the planned maintenance in the early morning while most people are still asleep. We will work as quickly and safely as possible to restore your service.”

Avista customer service representatives have a variety of resources and information available to aid customers in need. Customers who have questions or concerns can contact Avista at 800-227-9187 for assistance and reference outage number 2014199.
