Cleanup days moved to April 15 through 16

ODESSA – As the town council met in person Monday night for the first time since Covid restrictions were enacted, Mayor Bill Crossley reported that the date for Odessa’s community cleanup days has been moved to April 15-16. The move was necessary due to town staffing issues. Advertising of the dates and associated rules and restrictions will be published soon.

Crossley also reported that several eastern Washington mayors have joined together in signing a letter to Governor Jay Inslee, requesting that their municipalities be allowed to move to Phase 3 of the governor’s re-opening plan.

Recycling bin

The cardboard recycling bin has now been moved back to its former location next to the police station. Town residents are reminded that all cardboard boxes must be broken down prior to being put in the bin.

Police report

For the period from Feb. 23 through Mar. 3, police chief Les Jimerson reported on the animal cruelty case now being pursued by the courts (see story above). Numerous traffic stops, welfare checks, reports of fraud, domestic arguments and/or assaults were also handled in the past two weeks. Jimerson told the council he has been receiving conflicting information regarding nuisance abatement issues and how they should be handled. He will continue to pursue the issue.
