DAVENPORT--A pleasant, sunny weekend may end with less than preferable conditions. The National Weather Service has warned of the potential for high winds and blowing dust between 7 p.m. and midnight tonight in areas of the Columbia Basin and Central Washington. A wind advisory warning is in place from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m. Winds blowing northeast may reach gusts as high as 45 miles per hour.

The forecast for blowing dust and high winds includes most of Lincoln County. Blowing dust is possible on Highway 2 from Reardan to Waterville and I-90 from Ritzville to George. Widespread haze is expected before 11 p.m. Showers are possible between 8 and 9 p.m.

The Department of Transportation cautioned drivers to use extreme caution when traveling through social media posts, noting visibility may be decreased due to blowing dust.

The storm arrives with a cold front that will lower temperatures into this week. Tomorrow, April 19, is forecasted to be sunny, but have a high temperature of just 59 degrees.

A recent dust storm on March 28 forced the closure of a stretch of I-90 and the temporary shut down of the Keller Ferry on Highway 21.
