Bill and Carol Knerr's six nanny goats have produced 13 kids this year. From Dobson Road visitors can watch the mothers and babies grazing and frolicking.

ODESSA – Bill and Carol Knerr are raising goats on the Lincoln County property that lies to the south and to the west of their residence on Dobson Road. Their six nanny goats have produced 13 kids this year. The mother goats each produced between one and three babies, and most were born healthy and vigorous.

Only a couple were lost due to difficult births or defects. The Knerrs have the best of both worlds with a residence that sits within the town limits and additional property that is outside the town limits. Previous owners of the property built a barn on the county land behind the residence, so the young kid goats had a snug place of warm shelter protecting them from the early morning below-freezing weather that followed the births.

The Knerrs spent most of their working lives in the Odessa area. Originally from California, Bill accepted a job working for Wes and Faye King's cattle operation, while Carol was employed at the Odessa Clinic. They raised their children in Odessa, all of whom graduated from Odessa High School.
