Davenport council approves airport acts

A small plane sits tied down next to the fuel tank at the Davenport Municipal Airport. Council approved the use of funds from the city's tourism tax to help fund the "short load fee" charged to the city for the fuel tank, which is less than 10,000 gallons.
DAVENPORT-The small refueling tank at the airport where pilots can come park their plane, fill up with gas and take a break in the pilot's lounge needs to be refilled about once or twice a year. Because the tank is less than 10,000 gallons (total, it's 3,000 gallons), the city is charged a small fuel tax, or "short load fee." Council gave the go-ahead to use $3,000 from tourism tax revenue to cover those fee costs at the April 14 meeting.
The extra charge on the small fuel tax can be up to 50 cents per gallon.
