Five locals compete in National AAU track meet

HOUSTON – Darby, Glenna and Charlotte Soliday, who attend or graduated from the Davenport School District, and Jakari and Treyson Singleton of Reardan composed a group of five locals that competed in the National AAU track meet in Houston the first week of August.

All five are members of the Spokane Speed track club and qualified for nationals through regional AAU meets in Yakima and Boise in June.

Darby Soliday, a 2021 graduate of Davenport High School, competed in the 100-meter hurdles, 400-meter hurdles and 4X400 meter relay in the 17 and 18-year-old women's division.

Jakari Singleton ran in the 100-meter hurdles and 200-meter hurdles for 14-year-old boys. Treyson Singleton ran 100 meters, 200 meters and competed in long jump for 11-year-old boys.

Glenna Soliday competed in 100-meter hurdles, 200-meter hurdles and long jump for 13-year-old girls.

Charlotte Soliday ran 80-meter hurdles and 800 meters for 11-year-old girls.

The quintet's results are listed below, along with the winner of the event's time.

Darby Soliday

100-meter hurdles

Soliday finished in 60th place with a time of 16.63. Jaiya Covington of Houston won the event with a time of 14 seconds flat.

400-meter hurdles

Soliday finished in 16th place with a time of 1:04.61. Maci Simmons of Austin won the event with a time of 1:00.57.

4X400 meter relay

Soliday competed with Eloise Bolles of Wenatchee, Jaela Thornburg of Cheney and Mayah Eberhardt of Medical Lake. The quartet finished in 28th place with a time of 4:06.40. "Track Life University," based out of Detroit, won the event with a time of 3:37.01 behind a time of Brooke Gray, Chloe Vines, Comari Hawkins and Leeah Burr.

Jakari Singleton

100-meter hurdles

Singleton finished in 34th place with a time of 16:39. Jaylen Gilmore of Farmington, Michigan won the event with a time of 13.78.

200-meter hurdles

Singleton finished in 48th place with a time of 30.14. Timothy Grice of Rockdale, Texas won the event with a time of 24.86.

Treyson Singleton

100 meters

Singleton finished in 76th place with a time of 14.59. Aiden Opore of Suwanee, Georgia won the event with a time of 12.49.

200 meters

Singleton finished in 82nd place with a time of 30.76. Opore also won this event with a time of 25.12.

Long jump

Singleton finished in 62nd place with a jump of 3.43 meters. Kendrick Grayson of Kenner, Louisiana won the event with a jump of 5.08 meters.

Glenna Soliday

100-meter hurdles

Soliday finished in 42nd place with a time of 20.35. D'Asia Duncan of Clermont, Florida won the event with a time of 14.43.

200-meter hurdles

Soliday finished in 51st place with a time of 35.66. Carrie Vannoy of Detroit won the event with a time of 27.99.

Long jump

Soliday finished in 67th place with a jump of 3.73 meters. Aubrey Navarro of Houston won the event with a jump of 5.30 meters.

Charlotte Soliday

80-meter hurdles

Soliday finished in 35th place with a time of 16.83. Brittany Douglas of Columbus, Ohio won the event with a time of 12.97.

800 meters

Soliday finished in 51st place with a time of 2:49.21. Jada Harper of Jeffersonville, Indiana won the event with a time of 2:19.58.
