First sustained snowfall of season expected today

Winter weather advisory issued for area

DAVENPORT--The first sustained and "sticking" snowfall of the season is expected today. The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory from 4 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 18 to 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 19.

The NWS forecasts 1 to 3 inches of wet snow falling in the Davenport and Spokane areas. The highest snowfall amounts are expected in elevations above 2,000 feet, which includes Davenport. Up to four inches is possible between Airway Heights and Davenport, according to the NWS.

Caution is recommended on the roadways by the NWS, as tomorrow morning's commute could be slippery due to slick snow/rain mixtures on roadways.

Plows were seen out and about on the Lincoln County roadways Thursday morning in preparation for flurries.

The NWS says there's a 30% chance of snowfall in Davenport during the daytime, but a 100% chance of snowfall overnight and 80% tomorrow morning.

We will update this story as news and forecasts develop.
