Reardan girls' win streak snapped at Kettle Falls

Boys earn convincing win over Bulldogs

KETTLE FALLS—An impressive nine-game win streak by the Reardan varsity girls came to an end Saturday against the Kettle Falls Bulldogs. The Reardan boys, however, pulled off a convincing victory for its second-straight dub Jan. 15.

The girls fell 42-36, while the boys won 70-53 in the absence of several players and head coach Brian Graham, who were all out due to COVID-19 protocols.

The Reardan girls held a 24-18 lead at halftime of their game, but were outscored 24-12 in the second half despite 26 points from leading scorer Ayden Krupke.

Reardan was missing starting freshman McKenzie Bjornberg in the game. Seniors Madi Dewey and Liberty Anderson returned, but managed just three points between the two. Besides Krupke, no Reardan player scored more than four points. The senior scored all but 10 of the team’s total points.

Mya Edwards scored 14 points for Kettle Falls and surpassed the 1,000 point mark for her career.

Reardan fell to 11-4 with the loss.

The boys, meanwhile, improved to 8-6 with their convincing victory despite the absence of several players. Junior Logan Flaa scored 26 points and Rysen Soliday stepped up with 17 points. Jakari Singleton added 12 points for Reardan.

Reardan outscored Kettle Falls in each quarter. Its best quarter was the second, outscoring the Bulldgos 16-9.

The Reardan girls are currently in fourth place in the NE2B, while the boys are in sixth place.

Reardan’s next opponent is up in the air as the school went to remote this learning due to soaring COVID-19 cases.
