DAVENPORT—Sheriff Wade Magers’ pre-trial date, originally scheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 9, is being delayed to April 20, Lincoln County District Court staff told The Times this week.

Court records simply list the reason for the extension as "attorney's trial schedule," with no other information given. Both sides are required to agree to the continuation.

Magers, who entered a not-guilty plea on charges of obstructing a law enforcement officer, making a false or misleading statement to a public servant and rendering criminal assistance in the third degree at an arraignment July 7, 2021, told The Times he was unaware of why the pre-trial is being extended to April, saying his attorney is handling these matters.

His charges were leveled by the Franklin County Prosecutor’s Office following a Washington State Patrol investigation in June 2021 regarding an incident in Feb. 2021, where Magers is accused of attempting to prevent DUI charges against his son, Colton Magers, following the younger Magers’ single-car crash.

The pre-trial, where a trial date is set or the two sides discuss a potential plea deal, was originally scheduled for Nov. 2021. It was then delayed to Feb. 9, making this delay the second in the proceedings thus far.

This is a developing story. We will update this story as new information trickles in.

The story was most recently updated at 11:40 a.m. Feb. 4.
