Truck driver accused of assault to change plea

Windisch charged with second-degree assault after May 2021 incident

DAVENPORT – A Yakima truck driver accused of running a red Jeep off Highway 2 a few miles east of Davenport in May 2021 has a hearing to change his plea on a charge of second-degree assault with a deadly weapon. Ernest Vern Windisch, age 62, has an appearance scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 15 after originally entering a not-guilty plea Oct. 5, 2021.

Windisch received the second-degree assault charge July 21, 2021 after a prosecutor’s review of a report filed by Lincoln County Chief Criminal Deputy Kody Becker on May 28, 2021.
