School delayed due to power outage

Power restored after overnight outage

DAVENPORT--School will be delayed two hours and start at 10 a.m. today due to an overnight power outage affecting the city.

According to reports from Avista Utilities, an outage affecting roughly 1,100 customers was reported in the city around 2 a.m. early Thursday morning. Power was restored by 7 a.m., but school remains delayed to 10 a.m.

Avista said the outage was caused by a substation issue. This is the second city-wide outage this year after a fire at a Third Street substation regulator knocked out the city's power for most of the day Sunday, Jan. 2.
