DAVENPORT–Washington Department Fish and Wildlife hunting and fishing permits won’t be sold at Davenport Sporting Goods anymore, the business announced on its Facebook page Friday, April 15.

Co-owner Jonathan Chapman said a worker with Fish and Wildlife reported that the store was charging a service fee for the permits in order to avoid losing money in labor with the transactions.

Fish and Wildlife then came and said the store couldn’t charge a service fee any longer, which Chapman said forced the store’s hand.

“We hadn’t had any problems before,” Chapman said. “But then they came and said we couldn’t charge the service fee, so it didn’t make sense for us to keep selling them.”
