Reardan baseball doubles up Davenport

REARDAN-It was double trouble in Reardan for the Davenport baseball team, which fell in a pair of games to the cross-county rival 4-0 and 15-0.

In the first game, Davenport ace Denton Deal struck out 13 batters while giving up just five hits, but the Gorilla offense was unable to generate more than two hits to give the senior run support.

Caden Day, Noah Meyer and Greg Alvarez all drove in runs for Reardan in the first game. Day got the win, going 4 2/3 innings on the mound while striking out eight batters.

The second game was more lopsided, as brothers Tate and Abe Nelson combined to pitch a five-inning no-hitter before the game was called in the bottom of the frame after Reardan poured in seven runs.

Abe Nelson went 3-for-3 from the plate, scored three times and batted in two. Day added two runs, two hits and two RBI's, while Evan Moser had two hits and a pair of ribbies.

Reardan improved to 4-6 with the wins, while Davenport fell to 2-8. Reardan hosts Colfax Friday for a doubleheader, while the Gorillas will host the Kettle Falls Bulldogs Saturday for a pair of games themselves.
