Davenport Sporting Goods heading mostly online

In-person gunsmithing still offered

Davenport Sporting Goods co-owners Johnathan Chapman and Kevin Hupp announced last week that they'd be moving their business mostly online, with in-person gunsmithing appointments still available.

DAVENPORT-The local Sporting Goods store will be transitioning to a mostly-online model by the end of the month, store ownership announced on the business Facebook page last week.

The store will be closing its in-person business and will sell firearms online, the post said.

"We have to adapt, so we're adapting," co-owner Kevin Hupp told The Record-Times this week.

Hupp bought the store, located at 712 Morgan Street, with Johnathan Chapman seven years ago.

He said in-person sales had dramatically decreased on storefront product, which began last year with supply chain issues.
