Davenport boys second for B schools at Polo Grounds

Wynecoop takes first for junior varsity girls

Davenport freshman Josie Wynecoop took home first place for junior varsity girls at the Battle for the 509 cross country meet at the Spokane Polo Grounds Saturday, Oct. 1.

SPOKANE-It was a busy week for Davenport and Reardan cross country squads, with teams heading to the annual Battle for the 509 meet Saturday, Oct. 1 before moving to a league meet in Reardan Tuesday, Oct. 4.

Traditionally held at the now-closed Fairways Golf Course outside Cheney, the Battle for the 509 was moved to the Spokane Polo Grounds just east of Airway Heights down Highway 2.

Both teams are off until league championships in Harrington Saturday, Oct. 15. Therefore, to ensure cross country coverage in the paper both this week and next week, we will share local results from the Battl...
