Drill discussed at council

ODESSA- Police Chief Les Jimerson asked the council if there could be a roadblock for a mass casualty drill on Monday, Oct. 24.

The Odessa Police Department, Fire Department and Odessa Memorial Healthcare Clinic would provide various equipment for the drill.

Jimerson said they would need ten volunteers for EMTs and ten volunteers for the fire department scenarios.

He said he is still waiting on official word from the fire department on participation.

Jimerson said they would provide hot dogs, chips and drinks following the drill.

Updates and more information will be provided when available.

Jimerson had one report of harassment in the park, a report of light pollution and a suspicious vehicle.

He had one traffic stop for speeding and one failed to stop at a stop sign.

The police department bought a new taser battery, a new bola wrap was ordered and software that extracts text messages was purchased.

Jimerson said they received three body camera price quotes.

He also said there is a new Odessa Town Marshal page on Facebook.

Town Clerk Meri Jane Bohn reported that the audit is still underway and she attended a conference last week for work.

Bohn also said she is continuing to train the new office tech and they are preparing for the annual budget hearing.

The council approved two public hearings: a 2023 Property Tax Levy and a Drinking Water Supply Final hearing. Both will be held on Nov. 14.

The public hearing for the 2023 Budget will be held on Nov. 28.
