Odessa girls basketball team strong season

ODESSA—Head Coach Travis Schuh expects a solid basketball season for the Tigers, who had their first practice on Monday, Nov. 14.

“Last year, we were only one game away from going to the regional basketball tournament,” Schuh said. “We only lost a couple of girls from last year.”

Senior Grace Nelson hopes to return as a starting point guard later in the season. Nelson has been out for two seasons due to knee injuries.

“Might not be until the end of December, beginning of January,” Schuh said.

Schuh said three seniors are returning for another season.

“Ashlyn Neilsen, Laela Hardung and Kaytlyn Shafer,” Schuh said.”With juniors Melloney Deife, Hayden Schuh.”

Schuh said they aim to be in the top two or three schools.

“I think Wellpinit will be pretty good and ACH,” Schuch said. “After that, it should be us.”
