Tigers look forward to season

ODESSA— The boys’ basketball team looks to increase their chances for a postseason run in the 2022-23 season as they started practice on Monday, Nov. 14.

The Tigers ended their 2021 season in a loser-out game against Selkirk in a suspenseful overtime game, 60-57.

At the time, junior Jacob Scrupps scored 19 points, five rebounds and senior Daeton Deife scored 14 points.

Scrupps is a hopeful return after not playing the football season due to injury.

He was named to the NE1B all-league team in February for his contributions to the Odessa team.

Seniors Collin Martin and Gage Starkel are also hopeful returns for this basketball season.

Starkel and Martin have been leading in football and were driving forces last year along with then-Senior Nathan Carstensen.

With strong players at their core, the Tigers have a fair chance of a better season.

The Tigers finished out the 2022 season seventh in the NE1B league.

Odessa is scheduled to tip off its season at Selkirk Saturday, Dec. 3.
