Davenport Senior Center temporarily closing

Funds needed for Center to re-open

The Davenport Senior Center temporarily closed late last week due to a lack of funds and several other factors preventing the Center from offering meals to seniors.

DAVENPORT-The local Senior Center temporarily closed Thursday, Jan. 12, taking away its service of providing meals to senior citizens.

"Due to the present economy, high cost of fuel, rising cost of food, COVID restrictions (past and ongoing) and the loss of many of our members and financial support of those members the Senior Center is having to close its doors," president Carl Clark said in a press release. "We are seriously hoping this will be for a very short period."

The Senior Center traditionally provides about 30 local seniors three meals a week while working with Lincoln Hospital...
