SPOKANE VALLEY-The Reardan girls defeated the Chewelah Cougars 34-23 in a first-round District 7 2B girls game at West Valley High School, Saturday, Feb. 4, to advance to a quarterfinal matchup with Colfax.

But the Reardan party ended from there, as the Screaming Eagles fell to the Bulldogs 60-24 Monday, Feb. 6 and were eliminated by the Northwest Christian Crusaders 49-40 Wednesday, Feb. 8.

Reardan eighth grader Tenice Waters nearly outscored Chewelah by herself, but it took a while for her to find her shooting touch. The teams were knotted at 13 apiece at halftime.

Early in the second half, the Screaming Eagles went on a 12-0, giving them a comfortable lead.

With the win, Reardan faced Colfax in a quarterfinal game, Monday, Feb. 6.

The Bulldogs led 13-7 after a quarter, then went on a 22-7 run in the second period to take a 35-

14 lead at the break that they extended to 50-19 after three quarters.

Waters led Reardan with 11 points. Just four Screaming Eagles scored all game.

With the loss, Reardan was sent to the loser's bracket to play Northwest Christian.

The Screaming Eagles stood toe-to-toe with the Crusaders who after three quarters, led 34-32. In the fourth quarter, NWC went on a 12-point run and pulled away, winning 49-40.

In her final high school game, Anderson lit up the scoreboard with 22 points. Waters chipped in nine points, pulled down 10 rebounds and blocked two shots.

"We progressed nicely tonight," Reardan head coach Bob Swannack said. "Overall, I'm proud of the girls this season. They beat us by 30 a month ago, so it's a good way to finish."

The loss eliminated Reardan from the tournament. The Screaming Eagles finished the season 9-14 overall and 7-8 in league play.
